About Me

I am a piano teacher with eight years of teaching experience and 22 years of piano experience offering lessons in Oxford.  My lessons have a strong basis in music literacy and ear training while aiming to establish a love of music and piano in all my students.  I am able to prepare students for ABRSM exams up to Grade 8 level. In addition to ABRSM preparation, I employ a mix of standard repertoire, method books, and music chosen by the student. Method books and repertoire allow students to learn reading and technical skills and measure their progress consistently. Learning pieces or songs students choose is the perfect opportunity to strengthen their musical ear, and keeps them excited for lessons every week. I also encourage students to improvise and explore creatively on the piano, laying the foundation for composition or songwriting. Using this array of strategies, I develop learning plans specific to each student.

I have previously taught piano to many wonderful students from age 4 through adult in New York, New York and Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to my experience private teaching, I have held several teaching roles, working as a music teacher for young children aged 3-5 and a composition teacher for children aged 7-14. Through each teaching position, it has been deeply fulfilling to witness the joy of discovery, foster inspiring progress, and share my love of music with my students.

I hold a master’s degree in arts administration from Columbia University in New York. I completed my bachelor’s degree at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in Montreal, where I studied composition, music education, and piano.  These studies developed my skills as a pianist and gave me an excellent grasp of music theory and literacy concepts, a collection of educational techniques for students across all ages, and an appreciation for creativity as a means of exploring music.

I am originally from the Boston, Massachusetts area.  Outside of teaching piano, I enjoy hiking, cycling, cooking, knitting, and woodworking.
